TWICE yesterday, I really should have had my camera!
First, Orion (ds 13) and I toured the Virginia State Capital building around noon. It’s a lovely building, lovely grounds, and would have been a great place to take some pictures (so you have to imagine some while you read this!)
Highlights for me – standing in the room where Virginia made the decision to join the confederacy – that’s some history! The statue of Washington, which was made specifically for the capital building – the sculptor spent time living with Washington, measuring and sketching him, and friends said the statue really looked like him. It is the only statue of him made from life. Also, the original model of the first part of the capital building which Thomas Jefferson had made to help the builders create the building as he designed it. (Its been expanded a few times)
Second time I really needed a camera: Orion’s 6 week drama class had their play today! This class had only 3 boys in it, which is quite unusual. Orion had the lead in a 2-person skit (the other boy was somewhat of his straight man), and also did a monologue. I had no idea my son was so adorable in a top hat!
At least I snapped a picture at home, before I took him to class.
Ok, you have to believe me – a top hat and a big grin made a HUGE difference . . .
